Georgina Waugh

I'm Georgina Waugh, Clinical Nutritionist (BHSc Nut Med) and founder of Wellbeing George Nutrition, an online clinical practice for women who are exhausted, running on empty, and have been told their bloods are normal. I work primarily within genetics, functional testing and gut health, collating real information to understand what is happening in your body at a deeper level. My approach is whole foods first and supplements second, always with a reason attached. I'm a Melbourne-based girl and consult Australia-wide.

How True products fuel my health and fitness goals

I'm a Clinical Nutritionist, a business owner and a mum of a toddler, and a very needy spoodle, so my training has to fit around everything else rather than the other way round. That looks like strength work three times a week, walking most days, and protein at every meal, which is the habit I'm most consistent with because it's the one that keeps my energy steady between clients, the blood sugar balance on tough days, and the muscle I want to still have in twenty years' time.

Getting enough protein from food alone is harder than most people expect, especially at breakfast, so True fills the gaps rather than replacing meals. What I care about as a practitioner is the ingredient list. I read them for a living, and True Protein's are short, honest and made here in Australia, which is why I was using them well before I started working with the brand. Being able to turn a bag over and understand every single line on it is rarer than it should be!

Favourite True products

  1. Plant Protein in Vanilla. A blend of pea, faba bean and pumpkin seed protein, so you get all nine essential amino acids without any dairy, plus added digestive enzymes and a probiotic. It's the one I reach for when my gut needs a gentler option, and it's what I most often suggest to clients who don't do well with whey. Into smoothies for me and my bub daily, and overnight oats for my meal prep.

  2. All Natural Protein Shake in Rich Chocolate. 30g of protein in a bottle, made from whole ultra-filtered milk, lactose free and no artificial gums, stabilisers or sweeteners. This is the one that lives in my fridge for the days that get away from me! It's genuinely just milk and cocoa, packed with protein and oh so yum.

  3. Creatine Mono in Unflavoured. 3g a serve, micronised, and nothing else in the bag. Creatine is one of the most researched supplements available and it isn't only about strength. There's now so much research about its effects on neurocognition, memory, attention and processing speed, which is a big part of why I now talk about it with women who'd never have considered it. I stir it through water or add it to my shake and don't think about it again.

What motivates me and my proudest achievement

What motivates me is the woman who's been exhausted for years, has had every test come back normal, and has quietly stopped expecting anyone to find anything. I've been her. When my own bloods came back normal at my most depleted, it was my genetics that finally told me where to look, and that's the reason I test before I recommend anything.

My proudest achievement is building Wellbeing George Nutrition from just me, into a busy practice with a small team of dedicated and passionate practitioners, seeing clients right across Australia and now internationally too.

Favourite True Value

Be True is the one for me. My whole job is being honest about what the evidence supports and what it doesn't, including when the honest answer is that a supplement isn't the answer. I can only recommend something I've read the label on, understand the ingredients in, and use myself, and True is one of the few brands that makes that easy. Be true to the science, be true to the person in front of you, and the rest tends to follow!
