How Beetroot Enhances Athletic Performance

Health Benefits

Beetroot has a range of health benefits associated with it. It is a nutrient-dense vegetable with antioxidants beta-carotene and beta-cyanine; vitamins A, B, C, folic acid, magnesium, potassium, iron, and fibre. 

Some health benefits include:
– Regulating blood pressure (both high and low)

– Detoxifying liver

– Improving mental health with tryptophan, shown to have calming qualities



Enhances Athletic Performance

When it comes to athletic performance, a compound called Nitrate is where the beetroot really comes into its prime. Upon consumption, nitrate is converted to Nitric Oxide. Nitric Oxide (NO) works as a vasodilator, opening blood vessels and allowing for greater amounts of blood and oxygen to be delivered to muscles around the body. 

Greater blood and oxygen flow to the muscles > easier to produce energy > delayed onset of fatigue. 


When to Use it
