Dean is a 27-year-old CrossFit athlete. A former Surf Lifesaving and K1 racer he decided to move into CrossFit. He has been competing in CrossFit for 5 years including going to Pacific Regionals 4 times (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017). Dean Won the Pacific Open in 2015, however, had to withdraw due to injury. Dean has worked hard to get back to his optimum fitness level and is more focused than ever. Dean has a great love for the sport of CrossFit and is dedicated and excited to see what the future brings.
How often do you train?
I train 6 days per week, currently having 3 days which are triple days, usually taking about 5 hours or so to complete, plus warmups and cooldowns. All other days being double days, 3 hours. Thursday/Sunday being active or full rest, depending on how I feel. This is a training volume I have never undertaken before, so it will be very interesting to see how it translates in competition.
How do you take your supplements?
I use True, from the start to finish of my day every day, from Vitamin C powders to help my immune system, protein, carbs, BCAA, pink Himalayan rock salt powders through the day to aid performance, and then ZMA at night time to help sleep and recovery.
What’s your favourite True supplement?
True Endurance - This is literally the best combination of ingredients to aid training!
Greens - I have looked a lot into micronutrients and the new Greens powder has everything I would put into my own custom greens powder and also is palatable.
